Language courses in Korea

- Short term language courses Short term courses are usually 2-3 weeks long and cost around 800,000- 1,000,000 won. It`s a great chance to enjoy summer holiday in Busan and get basic knowledge of Korean language and culture. - Long term courses Long-term language courses usually last 1 to 1,5 year and provide efficient knowledge to start degree program in Korean language. There are 4 semesters per year, starting in September, December, March and June. Each semester lasts for 2,5 months, followed by several weeks break. Usually prices per semester range from 1,100,000 to 1,400,000 krw, though starting as low as 850,000 KRW at Geoje university for example. Any student over 18 years old, who graduated from the high school can apply for the long term language courses. D-4 visa is provided for the students who take at least 2 semesters ( half a year) and minimum financial requirement of 10,000 $+ deposit is needed.

Price for Master`s degree courses with university scholarships varies from 1,500,000 KRW up to 3,000,000 KRW depending on the university and major in Busan. - PhD degree usually takes 3 years or 6 Master`s degree diploma and TOPIK 3 or IELTS 5.5 for majors in English. Price for Master`s degree courses with university scholarships varies from 1,800,000 KRW up to 3,300,000 KRW depending on the university and major in Busan. D-2 visa is provided for all students who take degrees at Korean universities. Minimum financial requirement for d-2 visa is 18,000 $ deposit on the bank account. After graduating in Korea students get chance to get D-10 visa ( job searching), E-7 working visa( professionals) and in case of Master`s and PhD degrees F-2 ( residency) or even F-5 ( Permanent residency).

Scholarship Programs

While there are such scholarship programs like GKS ( Korean Government Scholarship), BK Korea scholarship that have quota and are quite hard to achieve, each University offers internal scholarships from 20 % up to 100% of the tuition fee depending on the IELTS/TOPIK score for the 1st semester and depending on the academic results starting from the 2nd semester. Also most universities provide opportunity to work as professors or foreign students` office assistance, which is also a great opportunity as a part-time job. *Students with D-4/D-2 visa can work part-time officially outside university 6 months after they arrived in Korea.

Dormitory or apartment?

While studying in university you may choose staying at dormitory or apartment. Which one is better? It depends on your needs and several factors. For students who wish to cook on their own, one-room or ofistel rental is the best choice, as you cannot cook in dormitory and in most of dormitories food options at the local canteen have to be payed in advance as a compulsory option. Advantage of the dormitory is university proximity and the fact that that you don`t need any deposit to leave, while living in one-room or ofistel will need at least 1,000,000 KRW to 3,000,000 KRW deposit. But basic price per month will nor differ much from university dormitories, so if you have an opportunity to provide a deposit for the landlord ( claimed back as you leave apartment), than renting may be a better option. If you decided to find an apparment for rent, we can help you with it! No additional charge is taken except basic real estate agent fee ( around 60,000 KRW- 200,000 KRW) depending on the deposit/price per month of the apartment you rent.
